EUREKA is a Europe-wide network for promoting industrial research and development. Since its foundation in 1985, its primary objective has been to support cross-border cooperation in near-market R&D in order to strengthen the competitiveness of European industry in global markets.

The research initiative EUREKA is comprised of a decentralised network of member states which is independent from the European Union and its institutions (EUREKA is not an EU funding program). Each EUREKA member state maintains a national office and appoints a contact person - the National Project Coordinator, or NPC - to assist project participants in their application for EUREKA status as well as in their search for appropriate sources of funding. The NPC is the project participant's primary contact to the EUREKA network.

Funding of the research carried out in EUREKA projects is handled at the national level. Project partners in need of public funding to help finance their contributions to projects must generally apply for the support of funding authorities in their own countries. Each member state has a unique system for providing support to the participants of EUREKA projects. For more detailed information about funding possibilities in your country, contact your EUREKA National Project Coordinator.
